For Sinochem, a leading global refining company, Bandweaver delivered a real-time leak detection solution for a 4 km overhead propylene pipeline connecting a wharf to a storage facility.
Using FireLaser Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), fiber optic cables were integrated directly into the pipeline structure. In the event of a leak, temperature changes caused by escaping propylene are detected instantly, allowing the system to accurately locate the leak to within approximately one metre.
By providing continuous monitoring and precise event localisation, the solution enables rapid response, reduces risk, and supports safe, efficient pipeline operation.
