Delivering critical infrastructure projects on time requires rigorous testing and validation, even in challenging circumstances. During the COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions made traditional, in-person Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) impossible, creating a need for a new approach without compromising quality or performance.
To meet this challenge, Bandweaver conducted a fully virtual FAT for a pipeline Third Party Intrusion (TPI) detection system using its Horizon Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology. Through secure video conferencing and real-time system sharing, multiple stakeholders were able to remotely observe testing, review system performance, and validate functionality.
The system successfully demonstrated detection and classification of intrusion events, including personnel movement, digging activity, and vehicle presence, with precise location accuracy.
By combining advanced sensing technology with remote collaboration tools, Bandweaver ensured the project remained on schedule while maintaining safety and full transparency throughout the testing process.
The result is a flexible, efficient approach to system validation that supports reliable deployment of critical infrastructure solutions, even under global constraints.
